At Khalsa Saffron, our story is one of friendship, passion, and inspiration—a journey that began over 20 years ago and has now blossomed into a unique business venture. We are Abhideep Singh Virk and Gurvinder Singh Mann, best friends since our school days in India, united by a shared vision to bring the world’s finest saffron to life through cutting-edge lab-grown techniques.

The Roots of Our Friendship

Our bond started on the basketball court, where Gurvinder spotted my talent while I played with friends. Recognizing my potential, he convinced our school team coach to give me a chance, marking the beginning of a lifelong friendship. That moment of support over two decades ago laid the foundation for our unbreakable bond, built on trust and mutual encouragement. Together, we went on to build one of the best basketball teams in our school’s history, even winning a sports festival organized by our school back in 2004.

A Journey Across Continents

After school, life took us on different paths. I left India to pursue my career in the UK, while Gurvinder remained in Delhi. Despite the distance, we stayed in touch, sharing dreams and ideas over the years. Our conversations evolved from reminiscing about our school days to exploring entrepreneurial ambitions, keeping our friendship strong across continents.

The Birth of Khalsa Saffron

Over the last few years, our discussions turned to starting a business together as we explored a range of exciting options. After considering many possibilities, lab-grown saffron emerged as the most intriguing and promising venture, capturing our imagination with its innovative potential. Once we settled on this path, the name Khalsa Saffron was inspired by Sikhism, reflecting the purity and service central to the Khalsa tradition—a value deeply held by Gurvinder, an Amritdhari Sikh. His commitment guided our vision to produce premium saffron sustainably. In January 2025, we began investing in this dream, pooling our resources and expertise. By August 2025, we had transformed the roof of Gurvinder’s home in Delhi into a state-of-the-art lab, equipped with aeroponic systems to cultivate saffron year-round. As of September 2025, we’re proud to launch Khalsa Saffron, marking the culmination of our shared vision.

Abhideep contributes international experience and a global perspective from his time in the UK, while Gurvinder brings local expertise, spiritual grounding as an Amritdhari Sikh, and hands-on leadership in Delhi. Together, we are devoted to purity, quality, and innovation, embodying the Khalsa spirit in every thread we cultivate.
