At Khalsa Saffron, we pioneer in producing the best grade Saffron in the world by blending traditional methods with cutting-edge indoor cultivation techniques. We stay true to the meaning of Khalsa, which means pure, and aim to secure a reputable brand name in the saffron market.

Our Process

Firstly, we gather our corms from reputable farmers in Kashmir. These farmers have leftover seeds which they gather for us and sell it to us at market rate.

The corms are then transported to Delhi, where they are prepared before being transferred to our labs.

The corms have a 3-step process which includes de-silvering, disinfection, and drying.

Once the seeds have gone through their processing, we transfer them to our labs.

In this lab, we provide a climate condition similar to Kashmir had almost half a century ago.

During late October and early November, the saffron flowers start coming off the corms. This is when the flowers are extracted from the corms and all the parts of the flower including stigma, stamen, and petals are separated at this stage.

The stigma and the style are extracted as a whole one thread, and each flower provides 3 of these threads.

Each part of the flower has its own use and are dried according to their own specification.

After the harvesting is over, the corms are then buried in a mixture of soil and compost where they are prepared for multiplication.

This period begins soon after all the corms stop flowering. Before the corms are buried, we decide whether we want to multiply corms for more quantity vs quality for next season.

After this step, the corms are buried in the soil and are left in the soil till next August/September.

And the process then repeats.
